Hydrodynamic Tests of a Full-Scale Light Submarine were Successfully Carried Out

Maneuvering and hydro-acoustic analyses of a light submarine specifically designed to carry out operations at free water surface as well as in deep water, were carried out. Turning maneuver results for the full-scale optimized submarine form were calculated by CFD analyses in the submerged condition. The zigzag, emergency surfacing and crash dive, acceleration, and deceleration maneuvers of the same form were also calculated with CFD simulations. Hydro-acoustic analyses of the optimized submarine form were also carried out with CFD analyses in the fully submerged state. CFD analysis was successfully carried out at ITU Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and all hydrodynamic characteristics of the light submarine were determined.
